When I have a lot to do in a day… I kinda get crazy. (Ask Andy) And I started acting like this:
Kevin McDonald is way funnier than I am, though. Rather than bore you with all the mundane things I did today that made it one of those “running and gunning” days, let me just say that I’m glad I got a workout in early, because otherwise, it just wasn’t gonna happen.
I had the good fortune to join Big Mike‘s class at CC this morning so I could make up the class I missed because of Thanksgiving. Because it’s Friday, Big Mike sent us on an 800m run as part of the warmup. Then came the kettlebell ladder:
1-10-1
Kettlebell swings (2 pood / 1.5 pood)
The WOD called for Russian swings, but Mike had us do American (over the head), so I chose a 1pood bell. Otherwise, I think I would have tried RX. This wasn’t a timed WOD, because as part of it, we took breaths in between, so after 1 swing, 1 breath… 2 swings, 2 breaths… and so on. Everyone finished around the same time.
It came out to 100 KB swings.
We followed up with some Tabata rounds.
8 rounds
20 sec Sidewalk-to-sidewalk shuttle runs
10 sec rest
20 sec burpees
10 sec rest
My lowest score was 5 shuttle runs and 4 burpees. I came home sweaty and invigorated. And then the mad dash began.
