Holey Moley, Batman! I made two amazing soups earlier this week, and I wish I ate lunch, because then I could gobble them all up!
On Monday I made the Sauerkraut & Sausage Soup out of Mark Sisson’s Quick & Easy Primal cookbook. And it really was easy, because I managed to make it on one of our family’s busiest nights. I added ground beef and doubled the recipe and it turned out delicious.
On Tuesday I made Caribbean Chicken Pot from one of Cooks Illustrated’s 30 Minute Suppers magazines. Damn… they really know what they’re doing. I promise to share at some point, but basically the recipe called for onion, garlic and spices, chicken stock, diced sweet potato, collard greens, chicken and okra. It also called for a scotch bonnet pepper, but I’m cooking for little ones, so that was left out.
It was soooooooooo good, even Luke ate most of his bowl.
Sweet potatoes are my downfall… I swear.
I had a great workout Tuesday morning. I wore my long socks because I thought we would be doing full snatches, but Zach changed the WOD slightly because the snatch needs more than 5 minutes of instruction and we have a lot of new faces in class.
5 rounds
400m row
21 push ups
12 hang power snatch (M 95# / W 65#)
I loaded my bar with 45# because I’m working on really getting that move down. I felt solid, and even Zach commented after my second round that they were looking good (yes!!!).
I did not finish. Cut off was 20 minutes.
Finished: 3 rounds + row + push ups + 3 snatch @ 45# in 20 min
And I floated the rest of the day because that was really hard.
Even Andy got a chance to do this workout. He had a make-up a class Tuesday evening. He finished 4 rounds. He said he wanted to beat me.
Gotta love that guy.
